| they got rid of Danger Close and One Man army, so at least theres no unlimited noob tubes.
It actually looks alright though, with decent perks and full customization. hopefullly the maps arent like derail/wasteland.
I remember Treyarch saying that Black Ops will be the return of competitive COD (for pc). i hope so, cos ppl are still playing cod4 tbh.

| The team behind trigger-happy Black Ops has its record-setting prequel in its sights, writes Mike Wilcox.
THE long-running Call of Duty video game series received a well-deserved gong last year, when the sixth instalment in the franchise, Modern Warfare 2, became the most successful entertainment launch in history, pushing total sales of the series to more than $US3 billion ($3.27 billion).
No stranger to the franchise, Santa Monica-based developer Treyarch has been handed the daunting task of producing this year's successor in the series — Call of Duty: Black Ops.
"Without having a ton of pressure on us, I don't think we'd be making the kind of game we are," says the game's executive producer, Daniel Suarez. Advertisement: Story continues below
"Modern Warfare 2 is the biggest-selling game of all time, with tens of thousands of fans still playing it every night. So yeah, we really set the stakes against ourselves but I think that's where you'll see how our offering in multiplayer really exceeds expectations, at least in my mind."
Six months after Black Ops was announced, the team has unveiled its plans for the game's online multiplayer options.
"With each Call of Duty game, from year to year, players tend to expect certain things," Mr Suarez says, "like more maps, new weapons and other cool stuff. So, we've looked at how we can change the way people interact with the game and what types of things players can do differently that are going to make the experience feel bigger and deeper."
Compete, customise and create are the three key pillars Treyarch has used.
Compete, which entails the highly competitive online skirmishes in the game, sees the addition of a Combat Training mode, which Mr Suarez says was a happy accident, after the team's early research revealed as many as 40 per cent of Call of Duty players don't play online because they found it too hard and complicated. The research also found that players wanted to be able to explore maps and try out new weapons without the threat of being set upon by other players.
"This new mode is specially designed to be played by yourself against a bunch of computer-controlled bots, or you can even have some friends join in," Mr Suarez says. "What's also great about Combat Training is players can change the variables to suit, like winding the difficulty setting right up, and then, all of a sudden, it's no longer a mode just for new players but experienced players, too."
Another mode appearing for the first time is the competitive Wager Mode. It includes four game types with strict rules and, adding more tension, players must pay to play using the in-game currency, COD Points, which are gained playing standard online multiplayer games.
An example of these rounds is One in the Chamber, which sees six players start with only one bullet and a pistol. If players miss their first target, they must continue with only a knife. However, each successful kill earns one extra bullet, making for cat-and-mouse-style tactics.
Mr Suarez says each new idea for Wager Mode had to meet a specific criteria to be considered.
"When we'd sit down to test new ones, if players were sitting there on the edge of their seats, about to throw down their controller, freaking out when the game was done; and if spectators were all screaming and shouting in the last few seconds of the game, then we knew it was going to be perfect for Wager Mode," he says. "If that didn't happen, it simply didn't make the cut."
Treyarch has also overhauled the options for players to customise the look of their in-game character and their weapon load-out, with Black Ops's enhanced create-a-class mode. Clan emblems can be designed from scratch and placed on clothing as well as being carved into the side of weapons. New appearance options include face-paint and a variety of camouflage options. Players can even personalise the crosshair for their weapons, with a skull or smiley face.
Treyarch's third and final pillar of development, create, centres on giving players the chance to record, edit and upload highlight videos of their gaming, using the new Theatre mode, which automatically captures each player's past seven days of matches.
As players go into battle in Black Ops, a new Player Card will not only show everyone their game stats but also a series of videos. "This not only offers players a chance to showcase some of their favourite take-down moments but players can study opponents' videos to see the techniques they use, such as what weapons they prefer and where they camped out in maps," Mr Suarez says.
While Treyarch hasn't revealed every detail about Call of Duty: Black Ops, the new features so far suggest the bar for the series is about to be raised to lofty heights again when the game launches on November 9.
